OSTROJ has delivered a modern conveyor line to MEA Water Management for the production of polymer concrete drainage channels. MEA Water Management, a leading manufacturer of drainage systems, selected OSTROJ for its innovative project through a tender process, where key criteria included proven references, speed, and compelling technical solutions. The new equipment, worth nearly CZK 10 million, replaced the original line with the goal of reducing repair costs, improving safety, and accelerating the overall production process. By optimizing mould transport and implementing a unique palletizing and depalletizing system, production productivity has increased by 35%.

OSTROJ has delivered a fully automated conveyor line to MEA Water Management for the production of polymer concrete drainage channels. The line connects the entire process—from mould casting and polymer concrete curing to transport to the next workstation, where the finished product is removed, the mould is cleaned, and the production cycle restarts.

A key feature of the new technology is a unique mould palletizing and depalletizing system, which ensures higher production efficiency and increased safety for operators. “The new line not only accelerated production but also gave the customer options for further automation development. The line is modular, so it can be easily expanded with additional automation components in the future,” says Martin Čmiel, Director of the Mining and Industrial Technology Division at OSTROJ.

The conveyor system includes 27 chain conveyors, 8 turntables, 5 roller conveyors, and 2 vibrating conveyors. The entire line is controlled via an industrial tablet, which allows remote monitoring and adjustment of production parameters. This enables operators to optimize the manufacturing process in real time.

“Our operators can now variably adjust recipe parameters for each individual mould. Once a mould completes its planned cycle, it is automatically removed from the line and loaded onto a pallet, ready to be placed into the mould storage,” explains Martina Škodová, Production Manager at MEA Water Management Plzeň.

Virtual reality helped optimize the line design

To design and optimize the production process, OSTROJ used the simulation software Visual Components along with virtual reality. This allowed the customer to preview the entire line during the design phase and approve its functional parameters and integration into the existing production hall in advance. “Digital simulation enabled us to analyze material flow in detail and identify any bottlenecks before production of the line began. This approach minimizes risks and ensures maximum production efficiency from day one of operation,” adds Adam Majewski, Sales Manager at OSTROJ.

OSTROJ completed the delivery, including installation, operator training, and commissioning, within six months of contract signing. The system has been in operation at MEA Water Management Plzeň since February 2025.
