OSTROJ, the Opava-based engineering company, has commissioned its new LZK 4000-2 semi-automatic forging line. The investment, exceeding 150 million CZK, strengthens the company's production capacity, increases productivity, and introduces advanced robotics into its operations.
The new line was completed at the end of 2025 and has been operating in a three-shift rotation since January 2026. Production of forgings is gradually being transitioned from older technology, allowing for more efficient production management and better capacity utilization.
The line features a range of modern technological elements, including induction heating, robotic workpiece handling, a trimming press, a die lubrication system, and a cooling conveyor. “A major benefit of the new line is the robotic workstation equipped with Pickit 3D vision technology. The system can identify individual workpieces, determine their position, and precisely guide the robot for handling. The entire process is faster, more reliable, and more flexible when changing the type of part being produced,” says Jan Kubesa, Director of Purchasing and Services at OSTROJ.
Thanks to this solution, vibrating hoppers are no longer necessary. The operation is quieter, easier to maintain, and more adaptable to production changes. Furthermore, the technology can detect dimensionally non-compliant workpieces early, reducing the risk of technical issues and scrap rates.
“The new forging line represents a significant step forward for us. Automation helps us increase production efficiency, improve the working environment, and better respond to our customers' needs. This is an investment that strengthens our competitiveness for years to come,” adds Patrik Neuman, Automotive Director at OSTROJ.
The original forging line will remain in operation as a backup for periods of peak demand. The Opava-based company is also planning its future modernization to support projected production growth.
OSTROJ’s forge produces components for the automotive industry, including parts for towing hitches for vehicles such as the Škoda Superb, Škoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Passat, and Mercedes GLA.
