OSTROJ is finalizing the development of an innovative modular shredder that combines high performance with smart diagnostics. Developed in collaboration with experts from VŠB-TUO (Technical University of Ostrava), the machine can process up to 9 tons of waste per hour. Thanks to its unique design, it can fully adapt to specific operational needs.
The prototype is complete, and the project is currently in the final administrative phase. The market launch is expected by the end of 2026. OSTROJ has invested millions of CZK into the development of this equipment.
The modular shredder will allow companies to process wood waste directly at the point of origin, reducing its volume and cutting transportation costs.
"Our goal was to design a machine that is both universal and long-term reliable. The modular construction allows us to customize the shredder to specific operating conditions while facilitating maintenance or potential future upgrades," says Robert Gillar, Head of Design and Calculations at OSTROJ.
While primarily intended for processing wood waste - which can be further utilized as wood chips for energy, mulch, or raw material for further industrial processing - the machine is highly versatile. "Tests have shown that our shredder handles not only wood waste but also paper tubes or tires," adds Robert Gillar.
The shredder is designed as a modular system where individual components such as drives, frames, rotors, or hoppers can be combined according to customer requirements.
The development took approximately three years. "We assisted in measuring the parameters of the modular shredder and testing it under various extreme conditions," says Miroslav Trochta from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at VŠB-TUO.
OSTROJ plans to launch the device in the second half of 2026. The primary target markets are Central and Western Europe, where demand for biomass processing technology is growing.
"In the future, we want to offer customers complete solutions, from the shredder and conveyor systems to the entire material processing workflow tailored to their specific operation," says Martin Čmiel, Director of Sales and Marketing at OSTROJ. "The modular shredder project confirms our ambition to develop and supply our own technological units capable of competing on European markets."
